Shikha Mahajan here, Intuitive Eating Coach, Certified Metabolism Specialist, and Practicing Nutrition Counsellor. I earned a certificate in sustainable nutrition from Johns Hopkins and a diploma in immunology from Harvard Medical School, in addition to a diploma in genetics.
As an adolescent I was morbidly obese and suffering from PCOS, Metabolic Syndrome, and debilitating Migraines when I attended Lady Shri Ram College. This isn't what I desire, but I didn't know how to get there. Reiki was the starting point for me and my exploration into holistic healing. My curiosity with Reiki pushed me to study it extensively, and I eventually attained the Grandmaster level.
When I decided to pursue a career in nutrition and wellness, everything shifted. I decided to put my knowledge of nutrition and holistic therapies to use by opening a clinic where I teach clients to develop a healthier relationship with food and hone their intuitive eating skills so they can focus on nourishing their bodies without getting bogged down by calorie counting.
Making dietary knowledge useful in everyday life is a complex and individual process. As a firm believer in the concept of "health at every size," I know that my efforts are about much more than just lowering the numbers on the scale.
I encourage my clients to view food as more than just fuel. For survival, we need food. it is nutrition; it is actually the stuff of which we humans are constructed.
We can tell a lot about ourselves by the foods we eat. By putting food into our bodies, we direct it to perform a given set of functions. In my opinion, a healthy diet has nothing to do with counting calories, following a tight meal plan, or going hungry. Instead, it's all about physical and mental fitness.
